Abstract:

The objective of the paper is evaluation of effectiveness of the artificial intelligence methods in modelling of cooling process in bell-type annealing furnaces. Artificial neural networks (ANN) and expert system (ES) – based on the ID3 algorithm – were applied to the approximation of cooling curves in bell-type annealing furnaces. The results of the artificial intelligence approach were compared with the linear and non-linear regression methods. The results of modelling of cooling process by the classical model of heat exchange are also presented in the paper.
