Intellectual capital filling system as a component of knowledge management system at the foundry

Abstract:

Knowledge Management System is not only the database of production processes data above all it is an integration of intellectual capital of all departments of the enterprise. Harmonious cooperation of technological knowledge,
quality management, finances management or public relations and other parts of organization results in synergy which is the source of competitive superiority. This is the proper purpose of knowledge management. Higher requirements of managements standards and quality and necessity of provide an economic predominance are the most important goals for knowledge management in nowadays economy. Metallurgy industry is not exempted from a requirement of development in this direction. In order to benefit form organizational possessions like intellectual capital, as well as grant in this range of expectation of clients, it is necessary to think about functional,
but also modern computerized information system, like Knowledge Management System. This article shows assumptions to the intellectual capital filling system at the foundry with specifications of functional requirements. Reasons for launching the intellectual capital filling system and knowledge management system and profits of those are presented. Initial results of work on “Node of Knowledge” project are presented. This project can be applied to inventory the intellectual capital and to locate knowledge resources in the foundry. The article shows directions of development of the system: use of ontology for knowledge formalization; use of web services for interoperability amongst components of computer system.
