Abstract:

There has been presented the results of numerical analysis of cyclic loading of forward extrusion dies. Various techniques reported in literature have been used in this work for modeling of cyclic loading. Comparison of the results of calculations for simplified as well as for quite complicated models has revealed some interesting differences. Simple models could be regarded as the most universal for the analysis of cyclic loading but only qualitative results would be accepted. On the other hand, some complicated models can take into account many parameters of processes and the results of calculations are usually much more accurate. However, these models are difficult to implement and calculation time is sometimes very long. Finally, the recommendations for selection of appropriate models of deformation processes with cyclic loading have been provided.
