An analysis of sequences of nonuniform images

Abstract:

The images of sliding trace and transfer film on steel counter sample disk were recorded during sliding of the samples of the two PTFE composites in pin-on-disk tribotester. The paper describes some methods of analysis of these image sequences performed to obtain features of image sequences which are the best discriminators of the two polymer composite materials with considerably different tribological properties. Static analysis of image classes and dynamic analysis of image sequences were investigated. Nonuniformity of images were defined and analysed with its positive and negative aspects. Some spatial-frequency filtering method was used to enhance uniform features of images and, on the other hand, a nonuniformity of some feature of images was used as a useful feature to describe changes of images.
