Abstract:

The objective of the work was to study the importance of accounting for the history of the deformation in modeling of flow stress in hot metal forming processes. Two flow stress models were considered. The first was conventional closed form equation, which describes the flow stress as a function of strain, temperature and strain rate. The second was the internal variable method. The basic principles of the latter model are discussed in the paper. Three versions of this model are considered. The method of identification of the model parameters is presented, as well. Finally, both models were implemented into the constitutive laws in the finite element program and simulations of hot rolling processes were performed.
